"The Music For Young Children Program has to be counted as the dominant force in the musical training of young children in Canada today. Many of the new students arriving each year in my studio are graduates of Music for Young Children. They arrive superbly prepared and well-motivated for further study. MYC teachers have found the right balance. They successfully blend the pleasure and joy of music making with the rigor of a well-crafted pedagogical progression."
Marc Widner, Chief Examiner emeritus, Royal Conservatory Music Examinations
MYC has stood the test of time and flourished over the past 25 years, partly due to the quality of teachers. MYC requires that prospective teachers meet strict piano and theory requirements from a recognized Conservatory of Music or University. MYC also has strict Continuing Education requirements for current teachers in order to maintain our certification.
MYC is a comprehensive early childhood music education program.
Learning accelerates quickly throughout the program, culminating with preparation for the Grade 1 Royal Conservatory of Music piano exam.
I love teaching MYC for a number of reasons:
So, if you're eager to walk alongside your children in the exciting and rewarding journey of music-making, drop me an email, call me or use the form below. I'd love to talk to you about the possibilities!
a standard instrument (piano) is the cornerstone of the program
the parent learns how to assist the child at home when the teacher is not present
parents brush-up their own music skills or even develop a new skill
children enjoy the camaraderie of other children in a similar experience
every child has a built in support system of adults -- we all experience the success of each and every child!
every teacher has a built in support system of fellow teachers and an organization that cares about our professional development
children apply their developing knowledge base of music theory to compose their own songs which are then submitted for international judgingthe parent and child work toward a common goal
